About Emthonjeni Trust

Emthonjeni Trust was founded in Cheltenham in the UK in 2001 by a group of friends concerned about the devastating impact of AIDS in South Africa.

Over the years we have raised thousands of pounds to help the Raphael Centre, a community-based development charity in Grahamstown in the Makana District of South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province. We have funded salaries, school fees and educational support, testing and counselling services, food parcels, staff training, administration costs, essential equipment, rural outreach services and campaigns to reduce stigma and discrimination.

Raphael Centre practises a broad asset-based community development approach to helping local communities affected by HIV/AIDS. See more on their Facebook page here.

Our thanks to all our supporters for your belief in our vision, your loyalty and encouragement.

Our only expenses, apart from fundraising, have been postage, newsletters and very occasionally travel. Nobody receives a salary.

Emthonjeni Trust is registered with the Charity Commission number 1092880 and our Charity Commission pages have more details of our charitable objects and latest accounts here.
